Talk - Vent - Eat - Laugh - Learn Together

Welcome to Project Read’s page Just for Women Learners and those who care about us!

All About You: The Woman workshops meet one Saturday morning each month from 10:30 am to noon. There are free activities for kids, so moms can join us, too! If you are a woman interested in joining Project Read as a learner, or you know a woman who is, please call 650-829-3871.

Here are some comments from members:

  • It is a good place to meet new people and make new friends.
  • We are always learning new things.
  • It is so fun and relaxing when we meet that we forget about things like home and work.
  • Those of us who were not born in the United States and don’t speak English as well as the other women are not afraid to talk here because it's so informal and friendly.

For upcoming workshops, please call our office for more information.

If you would like to start a group for women learners in your program or if there is already such a group in your program that would like to partner in some way with All About You: The Woman, please contact Project Read for more information (ssfread@plsinfo.org by email or 650-829-3871 by phone) .

It's All About You, The Woman! is the first group of its kind at Project Read and we are proud of its great success. All About You: The Woman is inspiring and working with other women’s groups around California, including Oakland’s Right to Read. This group is only for women learners from Project Read, however, if you would like to visit, please call us at 650-829-3871.

Special Thanks to:

Project Read learner, Donna Jones, Project Read 2006 AmeriCorps member, Shivonne Quintero, and Project Read program manager, Holly Fulgum-Nutters, for working so hard to make this all happen! Also, thanks to Mev Miller and WE LEARN—a national women’s literacy organization—for inspiring and encouraging Donna and Shivonne!
