Financial Guidelines -
Commemorative gifts are a gracious way to remember someone and/or to mark a special occasion such as an anniversary, birthday, graduation, etc. A minimum contribution of $20 is required for commemorative gifts. Acknowledgement is made to the donor and to the person being honored (or their family).
Donations of any amount are accepted for the library’s donation fund. Businesses and corporations, as well as individuals, clubs and organizations are encouraged to support their library through donations and bequests. Link to donation forms
The library reserves the right to refuse gifts (monetary or material) upon which restrictions are placed.
Material Donation Guidelines -
The Library is pleased to accept current bestsellers, & paperbacks; also Books on Tape or CD, videos and DVDs. Library selectors add some items to the collection; most other donated items go to the Friends of the Library book sales and ultimately the funds raise help the library in a myriad of ways. The library also seeks donations of materials related to South San Francisco history, such as school yearbooks, for inclusion in the Library History Room.
Thoughtful donations to the library are appreciated; however, we do not accept:
- textbooks, computer books and manuals more than 3 years old
- Reader's Digest Condensed books or magazines
- torn, damp, mildewed, pencil marked, highlighted or otherwise damaged books
- encyclopedias more than 5 years old
- newspapers, coupons, and catalogs
- magazines (including National Geographic) older than one year
All donations must be brought to the Circulation Desk - do not leave them outside or place in book drops! Due to limits on storage space and staff time, we ask you to bring no more than two - small or medium sized - boxes each library visit.
