Book Delivery for Homebound Patrons
Volunteers from the South San Francisco Public Library deliver books to homebound patrons. This is a free service of the library for South San Francisco residents who are unable visit the library due to illness, injury or disability (this includes the frail elderly). Those in need of library service only need to complete an easy application process, which includes filling out a reading interest form. Library staff make selections based on patron input with library volunteers bringing materials every three weeks (or at longer intervals, if preferred).
There is no charge to have books brought to the homebound by volunteers, but the usual fees apply for lost or damaged items, holds and inter-library loans (ILL). The users obligation will be to return items to the volunteers on time or to arrange in advance for an extended loan. Some materials may have special loan limits.
To participate in the program, return an application and waiver to Homebound Services, 840 West Orange Avenue, South San Francisco, CA 94080. The application and waiver are also available in Spanish using these links. For questions regarding the program, contact Cheryl Grantano at (650) 829-3876.
