Reading Edge 3000 scanning and reading system for users who are unable to read conventional print due to vision or learning disabilities. This program scans printed text and reads it aloud with a synthesized voice. Orientation sessions are required before using the Reading Edge. IP-Relay VRS (Video Relay Service): www.IP-RELAY.com With the accessible computers, web cam & Internet access, hearing impaired users can make calls via the Internet and be able to “express thoughts and emotions in sign language; and use of facial expression to add meaning to conversations”.

Also available: Internet (access the library catalog online), Word and Excel, etc. Appointments for introductory training may be made at the Reference Desk.

Additional features: Intellikeys oversized keyboard, oversized trackball for those who have difficulty holding a standard size mouse; electronic height adjustable tables for wheelchair users; special chairs and oversized monitor.

These computers and services are made available through a Library Services and Technology Act Grant, Friends of the Library and the Morales Fund.patron using specialized computer station
